Two Arrested for Murder of Minor Girl in Ganjam’s Karapalli Village

Berhampur: Two persons, including a juvenile, have been arrested by the Berhampur Police in connection with the horrific murder of a minor girl at her home in Karapalli village, under Gopalpur police station limits in Ganjam district.
The accused have been identified as Muna Khan (20), son of Abdul Khan from Antarabhatia village, Gopalpur, and a 16-year-old juvenile from Kaipadar, Khordha district.
The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by Prafulla Sahu (45) of new Korapalli village on May 1, leading to the registration and investigation of the case.
According to the police, on the morning of May 1, the accused persons arrived at the backside of the victim’s house on a motorcycle. Muna Khan entered the house, where the victim was alone, and an altercation ensued. Khan, reportedly attempting emotional blackmail, demanded the victim continue a romantic relationship with him, threatening self-harm with a razor blade. He inflicted cuts on himself to emphasize his threat.
The victim attempted to seize the blade and call her father. Khan tried to wrest the mobile phone from her, and during the confrontation, the juvenile struck the victim’s head with a crowbar, causing her to collapse. Khan then allegedly cut the victim’s hand. The duo fled the scene and attempted to escape to Berhampur but were apprehended by a police team.
Following their arrest, the accused underwent medical examinations, and evidence was collected. After completing necessary formalities, they were forwarded to the court, said Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
