'No Intent Behind It': Virat Kohli Issues Clarification After 'Liking' Avneet Kaur's Photos On Instagram
Former Team India skipper Virat Kohli took to his Instagram handle on Friday to issue an official clarification after he made headlines for 'liking' pictures of actress Avneet Kaur posted by her fanpage online. He blamed Instagram algorithm for the 'like', and stated that there was "no intent behind it".
Kohli took to his Instagram stories and wrote, "I'd like clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding (sic)."

Kohli's social media activity grabbed eyeballs after netizens spotted the cricketer's 'like' on a post comprising of a slew of photos of Avneet, shared by her fan page on Instagram. It snowballed into a memefest after users noticed that he seemingly liked the pictures on wife Anushka Sharma's birthday (May 1), hours after wishing her with a heartfelt post online.
Fans pointed out that the cricketer did not even follow Avneet on Instagram, and yet liked her photos, that too the ones that were shared by a fan page.
However, Kohli has now put an end to the chatter with his official statement.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Kohli shared an adorable photo with Anushka on his Instagram handle and penned a loved up note for her to wish her a happy birthday. "To my best friend, my life partner, my safe space, my best half, my everything. You’re the guiding light of all of our lives. We love you so much more everyday. Happy birthday my love (sic)," he wrote, and fans couldn't help but gush over the rare PDA.
Kohli is currently busy with the Indian Premiere League season in which his team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has cemented its place at the top of the table. Kohli, who has been with the franchise since the inception of IPL, is one of the orange cap contenders this year as he has been impressing his fans and helping his team with his swashbuckling innings in almost every match.
RCB is all set to clash with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium on May 3, Saturday.
