Punjab has no water to share: Preneet Kaur
BJP leader Preneet Kaur has stated that Punjab does not have even a drop of extra water to share with any other state.
She said the Punjab BJP completely disagreed with this decision of releasing 8,500 cusecs of water to the neighbouring Haryana.
Addressing a press conference along with her daughter and state BJP Mahila Morcha chief Jai Inder Kaur, the veteran leader and four-time MP from Patiala said the state was already suffering from water scarcity with 115 zones already been declared dark zones.
The water level in the dams was continuously decreasing. Water levels at major water sources like Bhakra, Pong and Ranjit Sagar were significantly below normal, she added. “The Punjab BJP will not allow the interests of the state to be ignored at any cost,” stressed Preneet Kaur.
She instead blamed the Punjab government, particularly Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, for failing to effectively present the case. “It is very unfortunate that the state government failed to present its case effectively in the BBMB meeting on this crucial issue. The CM remained busy with mere rhetoric. Due to this, farmers in the state may face a severe water crisis in the coming days,” claimed Preneet Kaur.
She blamed the Aam Aadmi Party government for being directly responsible for the situation and added that it was staging a deliberate protest to cover up its failure on the issue.
