LeT terrorist’s property attached in Poonch

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached the property of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in Poonch district. This action follows heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam attack. India has accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists who aim to create terror in the Union Territory.

The Poonch police attached the property of Mohammad Riyaz, a local resident who exfiltrated to Pakistan and is currently operating as a handler for LeT. Riyaz is wanted in connection with several terrorism-related cases.

The immovable property of the accused was attached on Thursday, and details were provided late in the evening. Officials informed that the property, consisting of one kanal and eleven marlas of agricultural land, is situated in the Kasblari area of Mankote tehsil.

Officials stated that the action was taken under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), pursuant to a case registered against the terrorist at the Mendhar police station.

Authorities have attached the properties of numerous terrorists in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir in the past. Riyaz is believed to have assisted many Pakistani terrorists who infiltrated into the Indian side. He is allegedly responsible for establishing a network of overground workers (OGWs) in Rajouri and Poonch districts, which are located close to the Line of Control.

A senior police official stated that this action is part of broader efforts to disrupt the financial and logistical support networks of terrorism and affirmed that such actions will continue in the future.
