Rs 2 lakh looted from grocery store, 1 held
Four miscreants committed a robbery at a provisional store near Jalandhar bypass and looted Rs 2 lakh. The miscreants committed the robbery at gunpoint. With the help of some persons, one miscreant was reportedly caught, while three managed to escape. The shopkeeper has been identified as Joginder Singh (69), a resident of Durga Puri, Haibowal.
According to victim Joginder Singh, he runs the shop on Jassian road near Jalandhar bypass. On Thursday night, Joginder, along with his son Shinda, was present at the shop. Suddenly four miscreants came there and pointed a pistol at them. One of the robbers demanded cash, but when victims resisted, a miscreant attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon.
According to the Shinda, one of the robbers fired a shot, but the bullet missed and he had a miraculous escape. Hearing the sound of the firing, people gathered and caught one, while the others fled with the cash. The police have registered a case.
