Rock Rovers log win in hockey

On the second day of the Chandigarh State Sub-Junior Hockey Championships, Rock Rovers Club recorded a 4-1 win over Government Model High School, Sector 42, in the women’s category.

Harman scored the opening goal in the second minute, while Niti doubled the lead in the 8th minute. The Sector 42 side reverted back strongly by reducing the margin to 1-2 through a penalty corner converted by Simran in the 22nd minute.

However, Shabnam scored the third goal, as Rock Rovers maintained 3-1 lead in the 36th minute. Shabnam netted her second and the last in the 51st minute.

Chandigarh Hockey Academy recorded a 10-0 won over Panjab University Hockey Club. Manpreet opened the team’s account in the 3rd minute, while Ratanjeet (7th, 19th, 23rd) scored three goals. Simran (17th), Manpreet (22nd), Happy (35th), Annual (39th), Pramila (47th) and Happy (50th) completed the tally for the academy team.

In the boys’ category, Chandigarh Hockey Academy (CHA) defeated Sri Guru Gobind Singh Club, Sector 35, by four goals. Vanshpreet sounded the wooden plank in the 2nd minutes, while Sahil doubled the lead through a penalty corner in the 12th minute. Vanshpreet again struck for the side in the 34th minute and Harkaran completed the tally in the 35th minute through another penalty corner.
