Actor Hrishikesh Pandey returns for CID Season 2
You’re back as Inspector Sachin in CID Season 2. How does it feel to reprise the role after long?
With a character like Inspector Sachin, which I’ve been playing for so long, coming back was exciting. And, of course, the entire team being back together made it even more special!
How has the bond with your co-actors evolved over the years?
We’ve been like a family since the show started and that bond has remained strong. Even after so many years, it still feels incredible to be back with everyone. That connection never went away!
Inspector Sachin had a romantic side too, didn’t he?
Yes, absolutely. Just like every CID character had their personal shades, Sachin had his share of romantic angles, heartbreaks and emotional moments. But at his core, he’s always been a bit of a stud and that part of him is still portrayed the same way.
What kinds of roles would you like to explore in the future?
I would love to play a romantic character, especially now with the kind of maturity and experience I have. Earlier in my career, I did romantic roles, but I feel I can bring more depth to them now. Sadly, most romantic stories today focus on characters aged 16 to 25. I would love to do an intense, mature love story. Another genre I haven’t explored yet but would love to try is comedy.
You’ve spoken about typecasting in the industry. What has your experience been like?
It always happens—once you play a certain kind of character, you start getting similar offers. Early on, I was playing romantic roles and I kept getting similar projects. I had to put in effort to break out of that mold by taking up different roles with new looks and character arcs. This is something that needs to change because unless actors are given diverse opportunities, even casting teams won’t know what we’re truly capable of.
