Apoorva Mukhija Breaks Down, Reveals Mother Received Rape Threats Amid Latent Controversy: 'Her BP Hit 180, She Could've Suffered Heart Attack'

Popular content creator and actress Apoorva Mukhija, known to her fans as The Rebel Kid, recently opened up about the deeply personal toll online hate has taken, not just on her, but on her family. In an emotional revelation during her first interview since India's Got Latent controversy, she shared how her sudden virality led strangers to her parents' social media accounts, resulting in a storm of vile abuse and threats that nearly endangered her mother's health.

She told Yuvaa, "People found my parents' social media accounts. My mother's account was public and when all of this was happening, for the first two days, I was only thinking about myself. I didn't think about my parents. I didn't know what was happening."

The 24-year-old recounted the moment she learned of the online abuse her mother had been receiving. "My mom got a lot of R-words and rape threats… I didn't know till three days. I called my brother and he told me that mom's BP has shot up... it could have led to a heart attack. I asked him, 'Fir mummy ne kya kiya?' and he told me, 'Mummy ne bas likha I am very proud of my daughter aur fir comments off kar diye.' That really hurt me because as I said, I wanted to do a lot of things for my mom."

Opening up about her upbringing, Apoorva said her father had always urged her to live with dignity and caution. "When I was growing up, my dad always said, 'Samaaj mein izzat rehni chahiye, hum itne time se yaha reh rahe hai.' I thought he lost all of that in a second. He always told me, 'Gaali mat diya karo, videos mat banao.' Everything he feared came true. I put them through all of that and they didn’t complain even once," Apoorva further revealed.

For those unversed, Apoorva was at the centre of the India's Got Latent controversy for abusing a contestant and asking him if he had ever seen a vagina in her life after being born out of one. She was subjected to immense hate and criticism, and multiple FIRs were filed against her, along with stand-up comedian Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia.

She had later revealed in a video how she received hundreds of abusive messages on social media, including acid attacks, rape and death threats.

"I genuinely create content to entertain people and to make them laugh I never wanted to hurt anybody and I'm very very sorry I should have been more mindful of my words but I have learned my lesson and I promise I will do better going forward. I just hope you guys can forgive me and I am very sorry if I hurt your sentiments," she had said in the video.
