New Delhi: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed on Friday that India’s total exports reached USD 824.9 billion in the financial year 2025. This is the highest figure ever. Compared to last year, it has increased by six percent. Notably, India exports 23 times more than that of Pakistan. Pakistan’s total exports in the year 2023 were USD 35.8 billion.
Additionally, India’s services exports have also created a new record by reaching USD 387.5 billion. The services export has increased by 13.6 percent compared to the financial year 2024. The figure was USD 341.1 billion last year. The ministry informed that service exports stood at USD 35.6 billion in March 2025. It has increased by 18.6 per cent compared to March last year. It was USD 30 billion in March 2024.
Data released last month showed that India’s merchandise exports grew 0.7percent to USD41.97 billion. This increase took the total merchandise exports to USD437.42 billion in FY25, 0.08percent higher than last year.
India’s merchandise exports (excluding petroleum) reached a record high of USD374.1 billion in fiscal year 2024-25, a 6percent increase from the USD352.9 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.
Global Challenge
Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said that while the 2024-25 fiscal year presented significant global economic headwinds, India achieved record-high merchandise and overall export figures. This signifies a peak in Indian export performance.
Goods Trade Deficit Also Increased
India’s trade deficit in goods increased from USD 241.14 billion in fiscal year 2024 to USD 282.82 billion in fiscal year 2025, reflecting a greater imbalance between imports and exports.
