Campus notes: Labour Day Celebrated

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Guru Nanak Girls College, Yamunanagar, marked International Labour Day with a celebration in the college auditorium. On the occasion, General Secretary Manoranjan Singh Sawhney emphasised that workers form the backbone of every organisation. College Director Dr Varinder Gandhi lauded the dedication and hard work of workers, attributing the institution’s consistent progress to their efforts. Officiating Principal Prof Narinder Pal Kaur underscored the significance of Labour Day and appreciated the commitment of all staff members, affirming that no institution can progress without its workforce. The event aimed to foster respect and gratitude for the contributions of workers.

Workshop on Ethics in AI

Ambala: The Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications at GMN College, Ambala Cantonment, in collaboration with Arya Girls College, organised a workshop on “Professional Ethics in AI." Geeta Kaushik, Assistant Professor at GMN College, served as the resource person. The hybrid-format workshop, held both on campus and online, focused on the ethical development and application of AI technologies. As AI continues to transform sectors like healthcare, communication, and automation, the workshop emphasised the need for moral frameworks to guide its use. Kaushik highlighted that as AI replicates human intelligence, it risks inheriting human biases, making ethical oversight crucial. AI ethics ensures that such technologies promote fairness, responsibility and societal well-being. A total of 40 participants attended the lecture.

Labour Day Observed

Karnal: Dyal Singh Public School, Sector 7, Karnal, commemorated Labour Day by honouring the dedication and service of workers across sectors. The celebration featured a special assembly organised by Grade XII students and included cultural performances such as skits, dances and songs that recognised the diverse contributions of labourers to societal progress.
