Indore: 24 Hours On, Man Crushed In Truck Accident Still Unidentified

Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): Even after 24 hours of the tragic accident on Indore Bypass Road, police are yet to identify the man who was crushed to death when a truck jumped the divider and overturned onto a car and a passerby.

The truck driver, responsible for the fatal mishap, also remains untraced. The incident occurred on Friday evening near Nemawar Bridge, where a speeding truck carrying plastic granules lost control, jumped road divider, and fell onto a car traveling in the opposite lane.

The car, in which Sheetal Agarwal (55), a resident of Mhow and wife of MES contractor Vijay Agarwal, was travelling with her two children, was completely crushed. Sheetal died on the spot, while her son Sanskar and daughter Astha were seriously injured and remain hospitalised.

In addition to the family’s vehicle, a man was also crushed under the truck. Initial reports suggested he may have been on a bike, but no two-wheeler was recovered from the scene, leading police to believe that he was walking along the road when the accident occurred.

His identity remains unknown as of Saturday evening. Kanadiya police station in-charge Saharsh Yadav said that efforts are on to trace the driver and confirm the identity of deceased man.

The truck, registered in Nagaland, was loaded with plastic granules and is being examined for mechanical faults or irregularities. Investigations are also focused on how and why the truck crossed over into the opposite lane.

Children unable to attend mom’s last rites

Grief enveloped the Agarwal community as the last rites of Sheetal Agarwal were performed at Gujarkheda Mukti Dham around 4 pm on Saturday. However, her children Sanskar and Astha, who survived the same accident with serious injuries, could not attend the cremation as they remain admitted in the hospital.

Sheetal Agarwal, known for her spiritual inclination and active role in the Agarwal Samaj, was remembered as a compassionate and beloved figure. Her sudden death in the tragic accident has left the community in deep mourning.

Her brother-in-law performed the mukhaagni in a ceremony that many described as heartbreaking in its incompleteness, as her children were not by her side. Family members and community leaders expressed deep sorrow over the loss, recalling her as a symbol of strength and kindness.
