SRINAGAR, May 3: Leader of the Opposition in the J&K Assembly and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma today said that the Union Home Minister’s statement on eliminating the perpetrators of the recent Pahalgam attack “should not be taken lightly.”
He warned that those behind the attack would be brought to justice and asserted that the Government of India “would not spare them.”
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said, “Pakistan is trembling due to its own misdeeds. What they did on April 22 is the ultimate humiliation of humanity-killing a husband in front of his wife, killing a father in front of his son. Nothing can be more inhuman.”
He added that Pakistan is well aware of the BJP Government’s firm stance and that such acts of terror would not be forgiven.
“Even though I am speaking from a corner of Bandipora, I can assure you the Government will not spare the culprits. The Home Minister’s statement should not be taken lightly-those involved will be killed and buried,” Sharma said.
He further stated that those who facilitate or support such acts would also be “dismantled,” calling it a firm commitment of the Government.
Sharma also praised the collective response of the people against the killing of the tourists, terming it historic and unprecedented.
“This time, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, people have condemned the incident. It is a collective slap on Pakistan. For the first time, there is a unified stand against terrorism and Pakistan,” he said.
Referring to recent statements by National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Sharma said he does not “take him seriously.”
“One day he speaks for China, another day for Pakistan, then about retrieving PoJK; at times he says ten births are required to abrogate Article 370,” he said, adding, “he is a senior leader, but the history of his statements speaks for itself.”
However, Sharma welcomed Dr. Abdullah’s comments on the Indus Water Treaty (IWT).
“Our rivers are ours, and our people should not suffer. The decision taken by the Government is right, and if Dr. Abdullah stands with the BJP agenda on this, I welcome it,” he said.
