Sadhotra exhorts women to play role in societal transformation

JAMMU, May 3: National Conference additional general secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today underscored the pivotal role of women in bringing about positive societal transformation and shaping the future of the nation.
Addressing a gathering of women workers at Jallo Chak in Ward Number 68 of Jammu Municipal Corporation which was organized by Kusum Lata and Sarla Kotwal, Sadhotra exhorted them to come forward with increased participation in efforts to eradicate social evils, especially the growing drug menace, which threatens the future of our youth.
Sadhotra said that women empowerment has always been the cornerstone of the NC’s political philosophy. The party has consistently championed the cause of gender equality and taken significant steps to empower women socially, economically and politically, he said.
Recalling various initiatives taken in this direction, Sadhotra said that the NC was fully committed to ameliorating the condition of women and ensuring their empowerment across all spheres of life.
Responding to issues raised by women such as timely disbursal of pensions to the elderly and destitute, economic upliftment, fair employment opportunities, shortage of drinking water etc, Sadhotra assured that Omar Abdullah Government is very responsive to address the problems of the people effectively and with urgency.
Addressing the meeting, Satwant Dogra (provincial president, NC Women Wing) said the strength of Nation lies in the strength of its women, urging society to support and encourage the participation of women in every aspect of their empowerment.
The women leaders Ayesha Gupta and Pushpa Dorga also spoke on the occasion.

Many women joined NC on the occasion. Those who joined include Kusum Lata, Sarla Kotwal, Nisha Devi, Anita and Poli Devi.
