Hoshiarpur beat Fatehgarh Sahib by innings in cricket match
In a match of the Inter-District Under-23 Cricket Tournament being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association and played at Mohali, the Hoshiarpur team achieved a splendid victory defeating Fatehgarh Sahib team by an innings and 66 runs, thanks to superb batting by Rachit Soni, Haral Vashisht, Aniket Rana, Manveer Heer and excellent bowling by Upalaksha Rathore, Aryan Arora and Amritpal Singh.
HDCA secretary Dr Raman Ghai said the Hoshiarpur team won the toss and batted first, scoring 310 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 74.2 overs. The Hoshiarpur team then declared the innings and Fatehgarh Sahib came
into bat.
Batting for Hoshiarpur, Captain Rachit Soni scored 76 runs, vice-captain Haral Vashisht scored 57 runs, Aniket Rana scored 56 runs, Manveer Heer scored 34 and Upalaksha Rathore and Aryan Arora remained unbeaten at 20 and 15 runs, respectively.
Bowling for Fatehgarh Sahib, Saksham Katyal took four wickets while Harshdeep Singh Pandher scalped two.
In reply, the Fatehgarh Sahib team batting collapsed in front of the bowling of Haral Vashisht and Upalaksha Rathore. They could score only 98 runs in 26.5 overs. Haral Vashisht took 5 wickets, Upalaksha Rathore took 4 and Amritpal Singh dismissed one player. Trailing by 212 runs, the Fatehgarh Sahib team was asked to follow on but could score only 146 runs in 30.4 overs in their second innings. Saksham Singla contributed 48 runs and Manpreet Dhiman 21.
Hoshiarpur again bowled brilliantly with Upalaksha Rathore taking five wickets, Haral Vashisht three, Aryan Arora and Abhay Pathania dismissing one each.
Dr Ghai said with this win, the Hoshiarpur team earned four points.
