Community unites to boost sports infra at Katrain school
In a touching show of community spirit, residents of Katrain in the Manali subdivision have taken a vital step to enhance sports infrastructure at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Katrain. As part of the ongoing ‘My School, My Pride’ campaign—which focuses on strengthening school facilities and promoting fitness—parents, staff and locals came together to mark the layout of a new basketball court on campus.
This initiative is part of the Mukhya Mantri Khel Protsahan Yojna and has received solid backing from local authorities. Manali MLA Bhuvneswar Gaur played a key role in securing timely approval and initiating groundwork, earning praise for his hands-on support. The project’s progress marks the beginning of a broader plan to fully equip the court in the coming months.
Principal Mangal Chand Negi expressed heartfelt thanks to the community for supporting the school’s mission. “GSSS Katrain has always aimed for all-round student growth. With this initiative, our students now have a dedicated space for sports, vital for their physical and mental development,” he said.
For students, especially basketball enthusiasts, the marked court is more than just painted lines—it’s a symbol of progress and encouragement. Sejal, a student player, shared, “Even just having the court marked makes a big difference. It gives us a sense of belonging and motivation to improve our game.” The initiative reflects the deep-rooted commitment of Katrain’s residents to uplift local youth and foster talent. Community members have pledged continued support until the court is fully developed, showcasing strong local pride and responsibility.
The ‘My School, My Pride’ campaign continues to inspire communities to take ownership of their schools. This latest development at GSSS Katrain demonstrates how collective action can lead to meaningful improvements and strengthen the school-community bond.
