Greatest surgical strike by Indira created Bangladesh: Warring
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday said the creation of Bangladesh was the “greatest surgical strike” conducted by the country, which not only created history but also altered the region’s geography.
Warring also claimed that the BJP, which rules at the Centre, was “no match to the Congress” when it came to protecting the protecting the unity and integrity of the country.
Warring made the statement as the BJP mounted an attack on the Congress over former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s remarks questioning the veracity of Balakot airstrikes after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
“The greatest surgical strike so far has been the creation of Bangladesh, which was ordered by (former PM) Indira Gandhi,” Warring said.
He said his party’s stand on terrorism had been articulated clearly in the resolution passed by the Congress Working Committee on Friday. In the resolution, the party asked the Centre to act with firmness and clarity to teach Pakistan a lesson for its continued export of terror to India.
The state Congress chief accused the BJP of trying to deflect attention from the grave intelligence and security failures of their government that led to the Pahalgam terror attack.
“The Congress does not need any lessons or certificates from the BJP, which neither has any role in the freedom struggle of the country nor in protectingthe unity and integrity of the country,” he said.
On surgical strikes, he said, “We are proud of our defence forces, who have carried out not just one but multiple surgical strikes from time to time on our enemies to teach them a lesson.”
