Sex ratio under 700 in 481 villages, Haryana finds
Surveys have identified 481 villages across the state – which is around 7% of its 6,842 villages (2011 Census) – that have over the past five years consistently had a severely skewed sex ratio at birth — below 700 girls per 1,000 boys. Most of these villages are concentrated in the northern and northeastern districts of the state. Ambala tops the list with 54, its neighbour Yamunanagar follows with 53. Panchkula, in the same region, has 38 such villages. The other hub of concern is the southwest, where Bhiwani has 46 such villages and Mahendergarh has 42.
