Palghar Crime: Vasai Woman Dies By Suicide; Boyfriend And His Father Booked For Abetment
Palghar, Maharshtra: A 20-year-old woman from Vasai West tragically ended her life, allegedly driven to suicide following a prolonged emotional trauma linked to a failed promise of marriage. The Vasai Police have registered a case against two individuals, a young man and his father, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Section 108(3)(5), for abetment to suicide.
According to police reports, Rewati Umesh Nile, had been in a romantic relationship with 20-year-old Ayush Ajay Rana for the past four years. Despite assurances of marriage, Rana allegedly failed to fulfill his commitment. The deceased’s family alleges that the betrayal and continued pressure led Nile to take the extreme step.
Rana’s father, Ajay Harish Rana, has also been implicated in the case. Police say he was aware of the relationship but disapproved of the match and actively discouraged the union. This, combined with Ayush's refusal to marry her, allegedly pushed Rewati into severe emotional distress, culminating in her suicide.
The incident occurred in the early hours of April 28, 2025, and the complaint was formally registered on May 3. Nile was found unresponsive at her residence and later declared dead at a private hospital in the Babhola area of Vasai West. A case has been registered at Vasai Police Station.
The police have not yet made any arrests. Authorities have stated that further investigation is underway, and statements from the accused and witnesses are being recorded.
