Kawade’s Class Takes GSC to the Finals in a Commanding Semi-Final Win In a high-stakes semi-final at the iconic Brabourne Stadium during the Cricket Club of India Tournament, Goregaon Sports Club (GSC) held their nerve and outclassed Cricket Club of India (CCI) by 20 runs to seal a well-earned spot in the finals.
Opting to bat first on a pitch that offered true bounce and value for shots, GSC made the most of the conditions, riding on a composed yet fluent knock from Ainket Kawade. Walking in with intent, Kawade anchored the innings with maturity, crafting a well-paced 84 off 49 balls. His innings was a blend of finesse and control—marked by 10 boundaries and two cleanly struck sixes. What stood out was his ability to rotate strike in between the big shots, maintaining a brisk strike rate of 171 without ever looking rushed.
Kawade found solid support in V. Miglani, who stitched together a vital 63 off 45 balls. The duo’s partnership set the tone for GSC’s innings, pushing the scoreboard to an imposing 196 for 5 by the end of 20 overs—a total that put the pressure squarely on CCI.
Chasing a challenging target, CCI showed sparks of fight but couldn’t sustain momentum against a disciplined GSC bowling lineup. D. Patel was the standout performer with the ball, using variations cleverly to return impressive figures of 4 for 26. His breakthroughs at key moments stifled CCI’s chase, and he was well-supported by A. Dugar, who picked up 2 for 30.
Despite pockets of resistance from CCI’s middle order, the required rate kept climbing, and the innings eventually folded at 176—all out in their allotted 20 overs. For his composed, match-defining innings under pressure, Ainket Kawade was deservedly named Player of the Match. His knock not only laid the platform for a strong total but also set the tone for GSC’s approach—disciplined, confident, and playoff-ready.
With this win, GSC marches into the final with momentum on their side, and Kawade’s form will be one to watch.
