Congress doesn’t need BJP’s certificate for patriotism: Bharti

Suman Bharti, former president of the District Congress Committee, refuted recent allegations made by the BJP regarding the Congress’ stance on terrorism. He asserted that the Congress and its leaders do not require a certificate of patriotism or nationalism from the BJP or RSS. Reacting to a statement by the district BJP president, Bharti said instead of making baseless allegations, BJP leaders should educate themselves on historical facts.

Bharti pointed out that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who made an uninvited visit to Pakistan, allegedly to “enjoy Biryani,” while former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh did not visit Pakistan even once during his ten-year tenure. He emphasized that true patriotism is reflected through actions, not publicity stunts.

He added that Pakistan either refrained from attacking India during Congress rule or faced dire consequences when it did — referencing the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh. Bharti criticised BJP leaders for making “fact-less” and “baseless” statements merely to grab headlines.

He also held the BJP-led central government responsible for recent terrorist attacks in Pulwama and Pahalgam, which led to the death of 26 innocent people. Bharti claimed that leaving tourists at the mercy of terrorists was a grave failure and that the government cannot brush it off as a mistake. “The responsibility lies with Prime Minister Modi’s government,” he concluded.
