Chrungoo’s booklet hits stands

JAMMU, May 4: Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister for Information Technology and Electronics, UP Government today said that Pakistan has committed a great blunder in Kashmir and it will be paid heavily by the Indian nation. The Government is committed in this regard. There is no compromise in this context. The Modi Government is conscious of its responsibilities and will respond at an appropriate time and place, he added.
The Minister was speaking at a function in connection with release of a booklet titled “Dev Vardutt Shaalan Kautasya- written by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo.
He spoke extensively about the need to keep roots intact. He said that all sons and daughters of the land called Bharat are deeply rooted in its rich culture and civilization. Gotra is important for every individual and family. It sets tone for the knowledge of DNA of one’s race.
The function was presided over by Ravinder Pandita president, All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS). Besides, the members of Chrungoo clan the programme was attended by a number of prominent personalities of the Kashmiri Pandit community and imminent personalities of Delhi-NCR. The book is about Gotra of Chrungoo family.
The publication carries elaborate mention of the history and legend of the clan and also details of those men and women of the clan who attained recognition in the past and present.
Prominent among those who attended the function besides Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister, included Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, author, Utpal Kaul, Ravinder Pandita, Kamal Hak, Chandrakant Gupta and Rajinder Raina. All India Kashmiri Samaj president, Ravinder Pandita presided over the function.
The author of the booklet, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, in his address said that the Chrungoo clan has its roots dating back to thousands of years and the Gotra of the family is derived from the name of its originator, Dev Vardutt Shaalan Kautasya, who was a Reshi of a great repute. The Reshi had his hermitage in a hilly area of Srinagar, Kashmir where he would live along with his wife known as Reshimata Kautasya.
Ravinder Pandita explained that the documented family-tree given in the booklet carries details of the last almost three hundred years. It becomes important in the current context for all concerned to take inspiration from this work done for the benefit of the future generations.
The vote of thanks was presented by Kamal Hak, a prominent intellectual of the community.
