Mumbai News: Fire Breaks Out At Designer Clothes Boutique Near Jaslok Hospital On Pedder Road; Watch Video
Mumbai: A massive fire broke out at a designer clothing boutique on the Pedder Road in the early hours of Monday. The blaze erupted at the Riyaz Gangji Libas boutique, which is located just a few meters ahead of Jaslok Hospital. A total of 5-6 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the blaze was reported.
Visuals Show Dousing Operations At Spot
Visuals from the spot show thick smoke billowing from the showroom which is located on the ground floor of a residential building. Firefighting officials can be seen engaged in dousing operations, while the cops can be seen managing traffic and taking locals to safety, away from the fire spot.
According to initial information, the fire was reported at around 6:30 am. Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and the dousing operation was underway. Local police also reached the spot immediately and assisted the fire department by controlling the traffic in the area. There are no reports of any casualties or injuries as of now.
8 Residents Along With Pets Evacuated
As smoke rapidly spread through the structure, fire officials initiated a rescue operation. Four men were safely evacuated from the first floor, while another team rescued four women along with three dogs and two cats from the fourth floor, according to a fire department update.
According to officials, the blaze was limited to the store’s electric wiring, electrical fittings, and a stockpile of garments and cloth materials. Authorities are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
