Seedha Sawaal: Is Pakistan’s Nuclear Rhetoric a Real Threat or Just a Desperate Bluff?

In a bold and candid exchange, retired Indian Army General Kulkarni raised serious concerns about Pakistan’s recent nuclear threats, labeling the neighboring country a “rogue nation.” He emphasized that India is a responsible nuclear power with a clear no first use policy and a doctrine of credible minimum deterrence. However, Pakistan's aggressive statements and nuclear posturing, he argued, reflect desperation and internal panic rather than strategic confidence.General Kulkarni pointed to historical references like Zulfikar Bhutto’s infamous “we will eat grass” quote to highlight how deeply rooted Pakistan’s obsession with nuclear power is. He cautioned that the current situation must not be dismissed as mere bluster. With increasing Chinese investments and strategic influence through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan may be emboldened—but also dangerously unstable. He warned that India must prepare for every possibility, including hybrid warfare spanning politics, diplomacy, and economy. Referring to recent terror activities and provocative comments by Pakistani officials, he said the time for only talks is over. Any future provocation will demand a strong and decisive response.
