‘Khote, Aaram Naal Khel’: PBKS Opener Prabhsimran’s Father On Thrice-a-Week Dialysis Still Scolds Him Despite Stellar IPL 2025, Reveals Uncle
Punjab Kings has had an impressive run in IPL 2025 so far. One of the man behind PBKS success has been their opener, Prabhsimran Singh. The smashing opener has so far scored 437 runs in just 11 outings thanks to his fearless batting display.
However, beyond the cricketing field, lies a deeper drive. At home in Patiala, Prabhsimran’s father, Sardar Surjit Singh, is waging his own war against kidney failure. Dialysis three times a week has drained his strength, but his son’s every run brings a spark of life to his weary eyes.
Speaking to The Times Of India, Satwinderpal Singh, Prabhsimran’s uncle and mentor said, "He is going through dialysis thrice a week. As an elder brother I can't see the pain he is enduring. I have to step out of the house when the doctors come home for the dialysis. Not a day has gone by that I have not prayed that it should not be my younger brother,"
He added, "Before every Punjab Kings match, I carry him to the living room. We watch the match together, and every time the camera is on Simmu, he smiles. If Simmu scores, he keeps on smiling and laughing. In those moments, he forgets the pain he is in. If Simmu plays a rash shot, he shouts, 'khotte aaram naal khel (play sensibly).'"
Prabhsimran Singh earn's Ponting's praise in IPL 2025
This season marks a turning point for Prabhsimran. Known previously for quick but inconsistent cameos, he has evolved into a more mature batter. That growth, he admits, is rooted in two promises to his family, and one to PBKS coach Ricky Ponting.
“He told us he’d score two hundreds this season,” says Satwinderpal. While that century remains just out of reach, Ponting has been vocal in his praise. “He’s a special player,” the coach said after a recent match. “I challenged him to get a hundred, and though he fell short, his intent and maturity were outstanding.”
