Trent Alexander-Arnold is saying his final goodbyes at Liverpool ahead of joining Real Madrid, noted football journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Monday.

The English right-back, who just won his second Premier League with Liverpool, will join the La Liga team on a five-year deal, Fabrizio Romano said on X. "Decision to leave Liverpool now confirmed as Trent says goodbye to the club after winning one more PL title. Documents being prepared for Trent to join Real Madrid on a 5-year contract, verbal agreement done," he posted on X on Monday afternoon.

The 26-year-old full-back, known for his clinical set pieces, frequently played in the midfield as well. Alexander-Arnold made his senior Liverpool debut in 2016,  racking up 352 appearances to win eight major honours including two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League.

Academy graduate "TTA" was one of the three superstars who were expected to sign new deals with Liverpool in light of the club's Premier League triumph under Arne Slot. While the others, captain Virgil Van Dijk and winger Mohamed Salah, extended their stay at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold seems to have chosen otherwise. However, his decision is unlikely to be a surprise for most Reds as he has been linked to Real Madrid for some time now.

VVD himself had hinted that the talented right-back may decide to leave his boyhood club at the end of the season. "Since I joined the club, he (Trent Alexander-Arnold) has been a fantastic player and there's a lot of good things that he will always be remembered for if he decides to leave," Van Dijk told British media. "Whatever may happen in the future for him, that's something he has to resolve with himself and the family. But he's a Liverpool player at this point and he's important for our team," he added.

How much money will Alexander-Arnold make in Real Madrid?

Although the details of TTA's Real Madrid contract are still unknown, reports in March had said that he is going to earn €15 million (£13m/$16m) a year. Florentino Perez is said to have offered lucrative performance bonuses and a huge signing bonus to the Englishman to compensate for the transfer fee, it had said.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's farewell message:

"This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life”.

“I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team’s best interests, which was securing No.20”.

“This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years. From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all”.

“But, I have never known anything else and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally”.

“I’ve given my all every single day I’ve been at this club, and I hope you feel like I’ve given back to you during my time here”.

“From the bottom of my heart, I thank everybody – my coaches, my managers, my teammates, the staff and our incredible supporters - for the last 20 years”.

“I’ve been blessed enough to live out my dreams here and I will never, ever take for granted the special moments I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived through with you all. My love for this club will never die”.
