Dr Thottan gets re-elected as WCC-India Secretary General

NEW DELHI: Dr Nixon Thottan has been re-elected as the Secretary General of the World Christian Council (WCC)-India. The WCC is a global interdenominational Christian organisation, headquartered in Geneva. The tenure of Secretary General is two years. Dr Thottan was the Secretary General of WCC-India for 2022 to 2024 also.
Dr Thottan hails from Irutti, Kannur District, Kerala, and is a member of the Thalassery Archdiocese. He holds lifetime memberships with several prestigious international organisations, including the Indo-Cuba Film and Cultural Forum, the World Peace Development and Research Foundation (USA), and the International Journalism Center.
Additionally, he serves as an Executive Board Member and Media Head of the SAARC Nations International Human Rights Association.
Dr Thottan is an accomplished professional with over 25 years of diverse experience in IT development, media, journalism, social work, youth development, and interfaith collaboration. He has been recognised for leadership in public service, media innovation, and community empowerment.
He is also a recipient of multiple national and international awards and a contributor to youth education and social awareness through publications and documentaries.
The World Christian Council aims to unite all Christian denominations in India and is committed to extending support to those in need, actively participating in anti-drug campaigns, opposing violence against women and children, conducting awareness classes and seminars, and promoting interfaith collaboration.
