The credit for establishing Banaras University goes to Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. He received this land as a donation for the construction of the university.

Reportedly, BHU sprawls far and wide covering as many as 11 villages, spread over about 1300 acres or 5.3 km. Every year more than 30 thousand students pass out from here.
On the other hand, Oxford University is spread over 1327 acres while Harvard campus is about 5667 acres.
