Pahalgam attack fallout: MHA asks several states to conduct civil defence mock drills on May 7

As part of readiness in preparation of the impending Pahalgam terror attack retribution plan, the Central Government on Monday asked several states to conduct mock drills on May 7 to test civil defence capacities and effectiveness.

Most states asked to test readiness are either on the border or close to the border.

“The MHA has asked several states to conduct drills for effective civil defence on 7th May," top official sources said.

The following measures will be undertaken as part of the drill: Operationalisation of air raid warning sirens; training of civilians, students on the civil defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack; provision of crash blackout measures; provision for early camouflaging of vital plants and installations; and updation of evacuation plan and its rehearsal.
