Pakistan national held near border
The Border Security Force (BSF) arrested a Pakistan national near the barbed fencing at the International Border (IB) on the intervening night of May 3 and 4. The intruder was later identified as Husnain (24) of Mahala Kumharan village in Gujranwala, Pakistan.
He has been handed over to the police. Pakistan currency worth Rs 40 and an identity card were seized from his possession. He was brought to the Dariya Mansoor border outpost (BoP) for questioning. Husnain claimed he had crossed the fencing inadvertently. Intelligence agencies had been informed about the incident, an official said.
Born on August 12, 2000, Husnain had cleared the Class VIII exam from Government Elementary School, Mandiala Wadaich, Gujranwala.
On May 3 night, the BSF troops on duty in the area of border outpost Sahapur observed suspicious movement near Falku Nullah ahead of the border fence and approximately 250 m inside the Indian territory.
They promptly alerted the Coy Commander, who, along with the quick reaction team, reached the location. The area was cordoned off, and the suspect nabbed around 11.45 pm.
Last week, a Pakistani Ranger was apprehended by the BSF along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan.
