Himachal: BJP seeks deportation of Pak nationals

BJP workers, led by Kangra MP Rajeev Bhardwaj, staged a protest march in Chamba on Monday condemning the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir and demanding immediate deportation of all Pakistan nationals residing in Himachal Pradesh. Dalhousie legislator DS Thakur and Churah MLA Hans Raj also participated in the protest march besides district party president Dheeraj Naryal and other leaders.

In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Chamba, the protesters called for the identification and expulsion of all Pakistani citizens—both legal and illegal—living in the state. The move, they said, was necessary in light of the growing national security threats posed by Pakistan-backed terrorism.

“We cannot tolerate the presence of Pakistan nationals on Indian soil while our people are being brutally murdered by terrorists trained and funded by Pakistan,” said Bhardwaj. “The recent attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 27 innocent civilians, is not just a tragedy—it’s an attack on the soul of India.”

The memorandum described the Pahalgam massacre as a “cowardly, heinous and deeply disturbing act” and directly blamed Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and the Pakistan military for orchestrating the violence.

Bhardwaj also expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tough stance on terrorism, including his decision to give the Indian Army a free hand in retaliating against cross-border threats. He pointed to recent government actions such as the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the downgrading of diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

Referring to a Home Ministry directive Bhardwaj said, “The Centre has already suspended visa services for Pakistan nationals under the Foreigners Act. Now it is up to the states to ensure this order is implemented swiftly and effectively.”

He demanded the state and district authorities to act promptly and deport all Pakistan nationals residing in the state within the stipulated timeframe.

MP Bhardwaj said the BJP would continue to press for strict action against any entity posing a threat to India’s unity and integrity.
