Fake OSD to CM held for threatening govt official
Gurugram police have arrested a man impersonating an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister (CM) after he allegedly threatened a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Electricity Board to remove electric poles. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Sector 56 police station.
According to the police, the arrested man has been identified as Amit Chaudhary (39), a resident of Nathupur village in Gurugram. The accused is the nephew of a BJP councillor Sunder Singh of Ward 1.
Police said the accused had previously been jailed for allegedly cheating people of Rs 57 lakh by promising them petrol pump allocations in Panchkula under the guise of having political influence.
During questioning, the accused confessed that he often portrays himself as a politically influential figure in society. Based on this image, when an acquaintance requested the removal of electric poles near a plot, he called and threatened the SDO of the electricity department, falsely identifying himself as the CM’s OSD.
“It is also revealed that two separate cases of cheque bounce are also pending against the accused in the court. We have recovered the mobile phone used in the crime from the accused and are questioning him. The accused was produced at a city court and sent to judicial custodu for further probe,” said a spokesperson of Gurugram police.
Meanwhile, BJP councillor Sunder Singh said that the accused is a relative but has nothing to do with him.
