Rs 2,888 crore allocated to upgrade feeders, lay cables in Faridabad circle

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has approved a budget of Rs 2,888 crore to upgrade power supply feeders and lay underground power cables across the Faridabad Circle.

This was revealed by A Sreenivas, Secretary of the Haryana Energy Department and Managing Director of DHBVN, while presiding over a meeting with representatives of various industrial associations in Faridabad on Sunday.

He said that a detailed project report (DPR) had been prepared by experts from the Smart Grid Project and subsequently approved by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

“Our engineers are currently preparing tenders for the project, which will be issued by the end of May this year,” Sreenivas said, adding that DHBVN is committed to completing the project within two years of issuing the work order.

Addressing the gathering, he stated that the project aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply with maximum efficiency and minimal losses, while also helping curb power theft.

As per the plan, 70 industrial power feeders and 84 urban feeders will be upgraded and connected through underground cables, transformers and associated supply infrastructure.

Sreenivas also addressed proposals submitted by industry representatives point-by-point.

Taking into account the pace of industrial development, it was decided to expand the power infrastructure without delay and to enhance the financial powers of local engineers to carry out urgent work.

He instructed local DHBVN officials to frame both immediate and long-term plans aligned with the growing electricity demand in the region.

To improve service response, Sreenivas directed the deployment of mobile repair vans for quick power restoration.

“We will ensure adequate manpower for night-time line repairs and will also assign a sub-divisional officer with additional staff for night duties,” he added.

Those present at the meeting included Faridabad Industries Association president Raj Bhatia, IMT Industrial Association president Pramod Rana, FIMT Industrial Association president ML Sharma, FSIA Association president GC Narang, Sarurpur Industries Association president Jitendra Shah, DLF Industries Association president Shriram Agarwal, Director (Operations) DHBVN Vipin Gupta, Faridabad Superintending Engineer Jitender Dhull and HVPN Superintending Engineer Atul Agarwal.
