Amul Will Become A Rs 1 Lakh-Crore-Turnover Brand This Year, Says MD Jayen Mehta At ABP India At 2047 Summit
Jayen Mehta, Managing Director, Amul, said that the company aims to achieve a turnover of Rs 1 lakh crore this year. Speaking about the trust built and maintained by the brand among consumers, the Amul executive said that the company has always focused on delivering value for money.
Speaking at ABP Network’s India@2047 Summit, the executive elaborated that under their cooperative model, they focus on bringing together all the stakeholders, ranging from farmers, milk collectors, cooperatives to retailers and distributors, to work towards achieving a common goal and making the brand a success for all.
Additionally, Mehta pointed out that the brand rests on two pillars, farmers and consumers. To help distribute success evenly, he said that his company pays 80 per cent of consumer spending on their products to the farmers. “Today, if you pay Rs 100 for a Amul product, Rs 80 will directly go to the farmer’s pocket,” he added.
He further noted that Amul works on a ‘fully integrated farmer-owned structure’ and if this model is implemented across other sectors it will help both farmers and consumers.
Adding to the vision of a $5 trillion Indian economy, Mehta said that in the next three to five years, $1 trillion will come from the cooperative sector. “Today, we are generating half of this amount, but with the impetus in the sector, we will be able to reach this target,” he pointed out.
