Why Is Narasimha Jayanti Celebrated?
According to mythology, Lord Vishnu appeared in his Narasimha form to protect his ardent devotee Prahlad and to defeat the tyrant demon king Hiranyakashipu. The Lord manifested at twilight to fulfill the condition of the demon’s boon—that he could not be killed during day or night. Hence, worship is traditionally done in the evening.
