Amid Indo-Pak tensions, India to conduct nationwide war-preparedness mock drill on May 7
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, India is set to conduct a nationwide mock drill on May 7 to prepare for potential war-like scenarios. The Union Home Ministry has issued directives for this extensive exercise, marking the first such drill in 54 years. The operation aims to train citizens and officials on emergency responses during aerial attacks, blackouts, and evacuations. The mock drill comes as India signals its readiness to retaliate, while Pakistan faces international humiliation at the UNSC, where its attempt to portray India negatively was dismissed. The P5 nations stressed peaceful resolution and condemned terrorism, indirectly cornering Pakistan, often accused of sponsoring terror. Simultaneously, a major ISI-backed plot was foiled in Punjab, intensifying security measures nationwide. As part of the drill, air raid sirens will be tested, and training will be provided on how to take cover and protect vital infrastructure. Schools and civilians will also be involved in this preparedness program. The government seeks to ensure robust civilian protection strategies in case of conflict, making this a significant step in India’s national security readiness
