FIR Filed Over 'Harassment' Of IPS Officer’s Children During IPL Match In Bengaluru
Bengaluru police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) after the children of a senior IPS officer were allegedly subjected to sexual harassment and threats during an IPL match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3. The alleged incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. in the Diamond Box enclosure, one of the stadium's premium seating areas, during the high-profile clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Suspect Displayed Aggressive Behaviour: Complainant
According to the complaint, a 22-year-old man and his 26-year-old sister, both children of the senior officer, were verbally abused by a couple seated nearby. The complainant alleged that her daughter was touched inappropriately, and both her children were threatened and insulted during the altercation, as per a report on PTI.
The complainant, identified as the wife of the IPS officer, stated that the male suspect used abusive language and displayed aggressive behaviour toward her children. She further claimed that her son managed to record the entire incident on his mobile phone.
Police officials confirmed that one of the accused is believed to be a senior official in the Income Tax Department. An FIR has been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including: Section 75(1) (Sexual harassment), Section 79 (Insulting the modesty of a woman), Section 351(1) (Criminal intimidation) and Section 352 (Intentional insult likely to provoke breach of peace).
Authorities have launched a formal investigation and are reviewing available video evidence and eyewitness accounts.
