Cheating in Pakistan’s Blood! Shehbaz Sharif government deceives Elon Musk by not granting…, Starlink now have to…
New Delhi: The bankrupt Pakistan is increasingly becoming a matter of joke for the entire world. Known for sheltering terrorists and disrupting peace and stability worldwide, the country continues to damage its own credibility on the international stage. Now, Pakistan is talking ambitiously about satellite internet, however, the reality is that it is struggling even to afford basic food items like flour.
Shehbaz Sharif-led Pakistan deceives Elon Musk
The Pakistani government is reportedly deceiving businessmen like Elon Musk. To recall, in March, the Shehbaz Sharif government had granted Musk’s company Starlink a temporary license to operate in Pakistan. However, it is now saying that a full license will not be granted until Starlink obtains permanent registration. According to the reports, the government has also asked Starlink to pass certain technical and security tests. These developments suggest that the Pakistani government was merely making empty boasts. It invited Starlink to impress India and other neighboring countries, but is now backtracking on its promises.
It is important to note this is not the first time that Pakistan has deceived Elon Musk. Earlier, the Pakistan government had banned Elon Musk’s X in the country. Following allegations of rigging in the general elections and a major uproar on X, the platform was banned in the country. However, the Pakistani government continues to operate its X handles using VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). Last month, the High Court there strongly reprimanded the government over this issue.
Pakistani government delays Starlink’s paperwork
The Pakistani government, in March had granted Starlink a temporary license so that Elon Musk’s company could begin offering its services. The development made headlines worldwide, including in India, since Starlink has not yet received a license here. However, just a month later, Pakistan has shown its true colors. The Pakistani government is now delaying Starlink’s paperwork.
According to media reports, the country’s telecom authority stated last week that Starlink will not be granted a full license until it completes permanent registration. In addition, the company must also pass some new technical and security tests.
Pakistan’s new move will delay the launch of satellite internet services in the country. It is being said that Pakistani regulators are proceeding with caution. They do not want to convert the temporary license into a full license, and for that reason, they have asked Starlink to pass certain tests. Reports suggest that due to this move by Pakistan, Starlink will have to reapply. This is not the first time Pakistan has taken such steps in policy matters.
It has done so on multiple fronts—inviting global companies and then imposing conditions that are nearly impossible to meet. That’s why major companies are hesitant to invest in Pakistan. As a result, it mostly receives support only from countries like China.
