Met Gala 2025: Indian-American CEO Mona Patel rocks kinetic spine suit, brings a robotic date along

From a kinetic spine on her arms to a robotic dog, Indian-American entrepreneur Mona Patel once again turned heads at the Met Gala carpet.
Marking her debut at the Met Gala 2024, the “mystery girl” from Gujarat is back! Mona Patel dazzled in her tailored suit, which perfectly fits the theme, 'Tailored for You', by infusing her “tech” story into it. Patel also brought the fusion of creative storytelling with a futuristic touch to her outfit.
A shirt with a halter-neck peeked through a sharply tailored suit that stayed anchored in the back by a kinetic spine, and came together in a black, beaded corset-style bodice—hand-embroidered by desi craftsmen—that cinched at the waist, styled with a 1000-carat emerald-cut diamond bow around her neck.
The kinetic spine at the back from Lisa Jiang and Timothy Bowl gave the all-black outfit a tech-touch. Dressed in a unique custom Thom Browne, Patel walked the blue carpet with a robotic dog, "Vector", inspired by Thom Browne's Hector Bag collection. The hat from Miodrag Gubernic added a bit of drama to the look. To complete the look, she paired it with a Rene Caovilla shoes.
Educated at Stanford, Harvard, and MIT, Mona Patel’s interests extend to haute couture too. The whole outfit came together wonderfully with her vision. Bejewelled with a jaw-dropping 1000-carat emerald-cut diamond leash, the robotic dog Vector, designed by MIT, was named after Browne’s iconic dachshund, Hector.
“This companion is fully robotic, tuxed-up, diamond-leashed, and ready to outshine me at any moment,” she quipped.
When asked where she got the inspiration, she explained that it was from her dad.
“While other little girls were playing dress-up in their mom’s heels, I was in my dad’s suits, usually drowning in them, but feeling so powerful.”
Soft, smoky eye makeup, nude lips, and classic old-Hollywood waves added to her charisma, letting the outfit and its little companion speak volumes. Mona Patel definitely goes onto the list of next-to-watch celebrities on the Met carpet.
