Guv to inaugurate open air gym on May 8

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will inaugurate an open air gym, built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh in the backyard of the mini-secretariat here on May 8. This was stated by Amarjit Singh Deputy Commissioner here on Monday. The DC said apart from the gym, the Governor would also flag off a rally, which would be organsied to create awareness against drugs from Circuit House in the morning, while he would also inaugurate a blood donation camp to be organised by Red Cross Society.

He also appealed to people to donate blood and contribute in the noble cause. He said blood donation was valuable gesture towards humanity. He said the shortage of blood in blood banks of hospitals deprived many patients of proper treatment. He added that by blood donation, one could save lives without even knowing to whom it was given in distress.

The district administration had developed various facilities in the campus of the mini-secretariat here, including an open air gym, two children parks, a rain shelter, one outdoor badminton court and a Verka milk bar.

Amarjit Singh said a canteen to support the district Red Cross Society would also be established close to Press Room near the DC office. He said the canteen would be operated by Verka milk and part of income generated from the kiosk canteen would be added to the Red Cross Society. The canteen would also be inaugurated by the Governor during his visit to the district on May 8, he said.
