Join nation-wide civil defence mock drill, ABVP urges youth
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called upon students and youth across the country to actively participate in the civil defence mock drill being organised by the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday. The drill aims to enhance national preparedness in light of increasing security threats, including the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, cross-border hostilities and cyber-attacks.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, ABVP Kangra co-convenor Jatindra Singh emphasised the importance of the drill, describing it as a necessary step towards strengthening civil and institutional resilience. He stated that the exercise will include the testing of air raid sirens, crash blackouts, safe evacuation rehearsals and training sessions for students and citizens on emergency response protocols.
In addition, participants will learn strategic camouflage techniques to protect vital installations such as radar stations and power plants, he added.
ABVP asserted that national security is a shared responsibility—not just of the armed forces, but of every citizen. “Our schools, colleges and universities should become centres of awareness, vigilance and preparedness,” Singh said.
ABVP has urged educational institutions, students and youth across the country to take part in the drill with seriousness and commitment, reinforcing the spirit of a disciplined and disaster-ready India.
Echoing the sentiment, ABVP national leader Rahul Rana said, “ABVP welcomes the civil defence mock drill. We appeal to all students, teachers, administrative officers and citizens to take part in this campaign with full devotion. Every Indian must be ready to face emergencies. Today’s India is fully capable of giving a strong response to any terrorist threat and every citizen must understand and act upon their role in national security.”
