Tewari inaugurates CCTV cameras in Ram Darbar

Local MP Manish Tewari inaugurated the installation of 56 closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras to enhance the safety and security of residents in Ram Darbar.

Speaking on the occasion, Tewari said there was a great demand for CCTV cameras across the city, whether it is villages or colonies or the sectors. Everywhere people and their representatives want CCTV cameras installed because of apprehensions with regard to the general safety and security of the area, he added.

Tewari said he had written to the UT Director General of Police for a list of places where all CCTV cameras had been allotted under the MPLAD scheme and the places, which would get the surveillance equipment in future.

The info could be helpful in getting CCTV cameras integrated into the police surveillance network, either at the integrated command control I-CCC level or at the local level of the police thanas and beat boxes, he added.

The CCTV cameras were given following the request of the former mayor Kamlesh, other Congress leaders of Ram Darbar and block president Sonia Singh. MC Commissioner Amit Kumar was also present on the occasion.
