Eric Staal returns to Buffalo Sabres as special assistant to GM Kevyn Adams

The Buffalo Sabres have officially hired former NHL player Eric Staal as a special assistant to general manager Kevyn Adams. Staal will be used in all parts of the hockey department in this position, and will utilize his years of experience on the ice to help the Sabres organization. Staal joins Adams, a former teammate from their 2006 Stanley Cup winning team in Carolina. Staal's hiring is one part of Buffalo's effort to end their 14 year playoff drought and to add a tough voice with a pedigree of winning.
