Chandigarh academy win sub-junior hockey titles
The teams of Chandigarh Hockey Academy (CHA) won the Chandigarh State Sub-Junior Men & Women Championships, which concluded at the Sector 42 Sports Complex.
In the women final, the academy team overpowered Rock Rovers Club 7-1. Parmila opened the account in the eighth minute, while Simran doubled the lead in the 29th minute. Happy put the side ahead in the 41st minute, before Simran (42nd, 44th) scored quick goals. In the 46th minute, Annu converted a penalty corner for the academy, while Bhawani scored in identical manner for the club team to reduce the margin 1-6. In the 50th minute, the academy team got another penalty corner, which was smoothly converted by Ratanjeet.
In the men title clash, the academy showcased their dominance over PU Hockey Club. Sahil starred in the team’s win by scoring a brace (6th, 9th). Puneet posted the third through a penalty corner in the 25th minute, while Parambir made it 4-0 in the 47th minute.
Meanwhile, Rock Rovers Club boys claimed the third position by defeating Sector 42 Hockey Stadium 2-0. Harpratap (33rd, 38th ) scored both the goals.
In the women’s event, Government Model High School, Sector 42, recorded a 2-0 win over Panjab University Club to finish third. The first goal of the match came in the 37th minute through Radha, while Simran scored the final goal in the 45th minute.
