Anti-drug campaign in Nurpur from May 15
The Idea of India Foundation, a Nurpur-based NGO, will launch a 10-day anti-drug public awareness campaign in the Nurpur area from May 15 to 25. Rahul Sharma, president of the foundation, announced the initiative while addressing the media on Wednesday. He said the campaign aims to sensitise youths, parents and the wider society about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
“This initiative is being launched to save our youth from the trap of drug addiction, raise mass awareness and work towards building a healthy, drug-free society,” Sharma said. He added that the campaign would be carried out with the active involvement of local youth, social activists and elected representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions. As part of the campaign, anti-drug seminars will be held at the grassroots level, covering every gram panchayat and major town within the Nurpur Assembly constituency.
“Our goal is not only to spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction but also to assist and guide young people so they don’t fall prey to this menace,” he said. The campaign will be supported by the local administration, police and various voluntary organisations. Sharma emphasised that the Idea of India Foundation is committed to building a self-reliant, aware and drug-free India.
Present at the press meet were Prem Sharma, Captain Daler Singh, Shubham Pal Chauhan, Rubal Sharma, Ravi Singh and Swaroop Chand. The NGO, registered in Nurpur, comprises around 100 active members including local youth, retired government and army officials and women. In March, the foundation organised a blood donation camp at Bharmolli village, where nearly 100 volunteers donated blood.
