MP, others express grief over deaths in Poonch due to Pak shelling

JAMMU, May 7: National Conference Member of Parliament Anantnag-Rajouri Constituency Mian Altaf Ahmad has expressed grief and anguish over the deaths in ongoing cross-border shelling in Poonch district, and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their family members.
In a statement issued, Mian Altaf said that there are reports that atleast 12 people have lost their lives and many injured in the ongoing cross border shelling in Poonch area, adding that there are reports of damage to the public property including residential houses in Poonch and Rajouri as well.
Mian Altaf said that he is in constant touch with the concerned Deputy Commissioners of Rajouri and Poonch districts and urged local residents to take precautions and follow the advisory by the respective district administration.
“ I urge the administration to provide relief and safer accommodation to the affected families besides best possible medical care to the injured people, “ Altaf said.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed deep concern over the casualties suffered in the ongoing firing in the border areas of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The Committee has asked for the de-escalation so that there is no more killing of civilians in the ongoing skirmishes.
In a statement APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina has said minorities in the border areas especially Poonch district have suffered fatal casualties while many including children have been injured.
“Four civilians identified as Amrik Singh, Ranjit Singh, Amarjeet Singh and Balwinder Kour have been killed in the Poonch district. In addition many others have sustained injuries in the shelling from across the border. A Gurdwara has also suffered extensive damages after it was hit by a mortar shell,” said APSCC Chairman.
Jammu Province Bachao Manch Chairman Ashok Sharma (ex- MLA), has regarded the innocent civilians killings in Poonch as very  inhumane and cowardly act.
JBM leader added that our enemy across border don’t have the human concept towards the public, may it be the people of the non-friend nation, one cannot be expected to kill innocent masses violating the universal rules of war.
Killings in Poonch has exposed inner voice of hatred of the dispensation of Pakistan which they do posses. War is always between the two fighting groups or persons or countries who are prepared for it with certain principles. Innocent killing is a cowardly act. Whereas India’s attack was on those who involved themselves in terrorism further, Ashok Sharma said.
