Future Tycoons programme in final stage: DC Sawhney

The Future Tycoons programme being run by the district administration in collaboration with Startup Punjab and PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industries has reached its final stage. Explaining about the program, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said the program has been successfully implemented previously in Patiala and Ludhiana. “Amritsar is hosting the third edition and it saw participation in huge numbers. More than 1,500 people registered their businesses and start-ups in the initial phase of the program itself.”

Among them, a total of 300 best business models were selected for the next stage by a panel of professors of Guru Nanak Dev University, IIM-Amritsar and PTU, the knowledge partner associated with the program. The selected candidates will be mentored in a three-day workshop to be held from May 6 to 8 at the Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan on the GNDU premises.

In this workshop, guest speakers from Innovation Mission Punjab, Startup Punjab, PHD Chambers and experts from GNDU and IIM Amritsar will meet the partners and let them know about the various government facilities, market demand, branding, product pricing, etc, to develop any type of business and on the third day of the workshop all the partners will present their business models before the jury.

Today, on the first day of the workshop, Chief Operating Officer Ashish Mehta and Dhaval Kaku from Innovation Mission Punjab interacted with the partners and encouraged them to become entrepreneurs of the future. Ten hearing impaired students from Bhagat Puran Singh Badhir Vidyalaya, Chheherta, also participated and for them sign language was used to disseminate information.

Employment Officer Mukesh Sarangal, Deputy CEO Tirathpal Singh and other officials of the administration were also present.
