Operation Sindoor Live Updates: Pakistan Shells Kupwara After Operation Sindoor, All Party Meeting Today

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian armed forces executed a series of precise, targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of 'Operation Sindoor'. The operation was launched in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, triggering widespread outrage across India.

According to an official government statement released around 2 AM, the strikes were described as "focused, measured, and non-escalatory," aimed specifically at eliminating terror hubs responsible for attacks on Indian soil. The mission targeted nine key locations, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, known strongholds of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist groups, respectively. Notably, all Indian Air Force pilots involved in the operation returned safely.

List of Sites Hit in Operation Sindoor:

  • Bahawalpur, about 100 km from the International Boundary, JeM headquarters.
  • Muridke, 30 km from the border opposite Samba, an LeT camp.
  • Gulpur, 35 km from the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch-Rajouri sector.
  • LeT camp in Sawai, 30 km inside PoK, Tangdhar Sector.
  • Bilal Camp, a JeM launchpad.
  • LeT Kotli camp, 15 km from the LoC opposite Rajouri.
  • Barnala camp, 10 km from the LoC opposite Rajouri.
  • Sarjal camp, a JeM camp about 8 km from the International Boundary opposite Samba-Kathua.
  • Mehmoona camp, 15 km from the International Boundary, near Sialkot, an HM training camp.

Following the strikes, the Indian Army posted on X, "Justice is served. Jai Hind!" in a symbolic message marking the successful completion of the mission. The strikes were reportedly a coordinated effort involving all three branches of the Indian armed forces, reflecting a decisive response to the recent attack.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the government has called an all-party leaders meeting. In a post on X, he wrote, "government has called an all party leaders meeting at 11am on 8th May, 2025 at Committee Room: G-074, in the Parliament Library Building, Parliament Complex in New Delhi." The meeting is expected to be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the Line of Control (LoC), with reports of cross-border shelling in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Thursday. In response, the Indian armed forces have been retaliating effectively against what they described as unprovoked firing.

Additionally, the district administration in Amritsar, Punjab, has initiated a blackout process as a precautionary measure. A statement from the district public relations officer (DPRO) advised residents to remain indoors, avoid gathering outside, and keep outdoor lights off, reflecting a heightened state of alert.

A comprehensive briefing on Operation Sindoor has been scheduled for 10:30 AM today, where officials are expected to provide further details on the mission’s objectives, scale, and impact.

"We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable," the government emphasised in its statement, underlining India's resolve to confront terrorism.
