Made for Rs 180 crore, this film became huge flop, earned only Rs…, lead actor did not receive any fees, movie is…
Many times when a movie is produced with a high budget and a star-studded cast, the predictions of the film to work better compared to the rest shoots up. However, then there are times when, despite having everything, the movie turns into a disaster at the box office or on the OTT platform where it has been released. This usually happens when there is no solid storyline or failed performances by the actors which couldn’t make a space in the audience’s heart. Something similar happened with the film which we are going to discuss today.
The movie was made on a budget of Rs 180 crore and featured some of the biggest names in the Bollywood industry. It was an adaptation of a famous and hit English film. However, despite all this, the movie became a flop. Not only that, the lead actor couldn’t earn a single penny from the movie. Yes, that’s correct! If you are wondering which film we are discussing, let us tell you it is Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha.
The adaptation of the 1994 film Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha was directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Jyoti Deshpande, and Ajit Andhare. The movie featured Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Mona Singh in lead roles, whereas Naga Chaitanya and Sanjay Dutt also made appearances in the film in key roles.
Laal Singh Chaddha was released on August 11, 2022. During this time, Bollywood was not in good shape. Except for a few, the majority of the films were not doing good business. Among them turned out to be Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie’s content was not liked by the audience and the strong movement calling for the film’s boycott became some of the reasons why the film flopped badly.
Some time back, Aamir in an interview with ABP revealed that he did not earn a single penny from Laal Singh Chaddha. The actor in his interview said that he gets his fees from profit, and if the movie flops and does not make any profit, he on the same hand does not get any fees—this is what happened with Laal Singh Chaddha. The film earned only Rs 129 crore worldwide.
After the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir had been away from the big screens for the last three years. However, now the actor is all set to make a comeback with his upcoming film Sitare Zameen Par in theaters on 20 June 2025. He has also been in the news for his dream project Mahabharata.
