The Centre has convened an all-party meeting in New Delhi on Thursday to brief political leaders about 'Operation Sindoor' and developments in the aftermath of India's successful anti-terror operation. Political leaders across party lines lauded the armed forces for carrying out the successful strike.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, said on Wednesday, "Govt has called an All Party leaders meeting at 11 am on 8th May, 2025 at Committee Room:  G-074, in the Parliament Library Building, Parliament Complex  in New Delhi."

In a key cabinet meeting held after the strike, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the armed forces and said 'Operation Sindoor' was carried out as planned. Briefing the cabinet, Modi said the anti-terror operation was carried out with “no mistakes whatsoever". The prime minister had also chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to assess the situation in the aftermath of the operation.

India carried out precision strikes targeting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during the early hours of Wednesday. The operation was launched to avenge the deaths of 26 persons in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. No Pakistan military facilities were targeted in the strike, Centre said. The targeted sites include Jaish-e-Mohammad's base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.

Congress and key opposition parties lauded the armed forces and expressed support for the Union government. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday applauded the “resolute resolve and courage” of the Indian armed forces. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!" Congress also postponed all its political programmes in solidarity with the operation.
