Three Telangana Policemen Killed In Maoist Landmine Blast In Mulugu Forests

In a deadly ambush by Maoist insurgents, three Telangana police personnel lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries during a combing operation in the remote forest region between Vajedu and Peruru in Mulugu district on Wednesday morning.

The attack occurred around 7:30 AM under the jurisdiction of Wazeedu police station, while a special party unit was carrying out routine bomb detection duties in the dense forest. According to senior police officials, the Maoists triggered powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs), followed by intense gunfire, leaving the team with little time to react.

The three deceased officers were part of the elite anti-Naxal squad deployed for security surveillance in the area. The other injured personnel were airlifted to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical.

Authorities believe the ambush was carried out by cadres of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), who had planted landmines in the area ahead of the police patrol. The region, known for Maoist activity, has seen increased security operations in recent months.

"The Maoists triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, resulting in the death of three police personnel,” a senior police official told PTI.
